About Us

In 1980, Troop 1489 was reactivated to teach skills, provide outdoor experiences, create lifelong memories, and bring the Scouting program to a new generation of Scouts in St. Clair Shores, Michigan.  The Troop was reactivated by Vic Milligan with the assistance of former Troop 1489 Scoutmaster Gino Marsiglio.

We focus on the development of a Scout's character, leadership skills, and outdoor skills through regular Troop meetings, outdoor activities, and service projects for our community. Each Scout learns these skills at their own pace and our adult leadership is dedicated to assisting each Scout in setting and achieving personal goals during their time with the Troop.

As our Scouts learn, we want them to have fun.  One of the ways we have fun is through our outdoor program.  With the outdoor program being one of the foundations of Scouting, we camp year-round scheduling approximately ten weekend outings or day trips and one week-long Summer Camp every year.

Our hope is that every Scout in our Troop will achieve Scouting's highest honor - the rank of Eagle Scout.  Since our initial chartering in 1980, we have had the honor of assisting over 60 Scouts achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.

Scouts are able to achieve this with the assistance of the Scouts in the Troop, and the support of our adult leadership, parents, and Chartering Organization - Cpl. Walter F. Bruce VFW Post 1146.
